Taking Time Off

taking time off

I’m just now getting a chance to type out a post about this, but I wanted to touch on a topic that I’ve been thinking out loud about recently after overcoming a minor ankle sprain a few weeks ago: taking time off.  Silly me, I was performing step ups on a bench and thought to myself ‘hmm maybe I should move that dumbbell on the floor, so I don’t accidentally step on it.’ Well, next thing I knew, when I was stepping down from the bench, I stepped on the edge of the dumbbell and rolled my ankle reallllyyy bad.  It swelled instantly.  I felt so…

catching up

Time for some catching up! Well another month has come and gone and here I am finally back on the blog! Life has been a bit hectic lately, but I figured I’d stop in for a quick thinking out loud post with fellow blogger Amanda to catch up on some random happenings that have been going on lately. 1. The weather here has been all over the place with one day being 85 degrees to a 20 degree temperature drop the next day.  We’re still experiencing unusually cold temperatures and lots of rain for this time of year, so, of course,…

Hellooooo blogging world! I keep going on mini hiatuses on here, but the exciting news is that I FINALLY bought myself a new laptop after 9 great years with my old laptop.  BUT, now this means I can actually create posts without my browser constantly crashing or feeling like I’m in the stone age waiting for things to load.  Yay yay yay, can you tell I’m just a bit overly excited?

glad to be back

Hellooooooo blogging world! Wow, has it really been over a month since the last time I’ve posted?? I wish I could say that my reasoning behind not posting is some super amazing awesome thing like I was off galavanting around the world visiting different countries or something but noppeeee, I just hit a writer’s block. Like I’m talkin’ no true recipe inspiration, nothing majorly exciting to write about, no fun race recaps to report, no great new workouts I’ve created. Zilch.

How is it Thursday already? The week is speeding on by, and I’m here on the blog today for a Thinking Out Loud link up to shower you with random thoughts and tidbits from my week! (As always, thanks Amanda !) 1.On Monday, I shared my recipe for chocolate chip hazelnut bread using homemade hazelnut flour that I made by simply grinding chopped hazelnuts in my food processor.  Well, I must say, the flour makes for excellent Belgian waffles as well!

Oh boy, do I have a fun recipe for today!! But first, I need to make note of the fact that we FINALLY had snow this weekend! Nothing too crazy and with only about a half inch, it’s already melted, but hey, I’ll take it! So, for this recipe, I wanted to do something a little different and experiment a bit…. I love anything hazelnut (which by the way, I’m currently sipping on some hazelnut flavored coffee as I type this :)..) and I had a bag of chopped hazelnuts in my pantry leftover from my family’s annual cooking baking event last…
